We’re Almost There…
When The Sanctuary first began, the heart was simple: to create a facility in the city that could serve ministries, churches, communities, and Kingdom-minded people across Tauranga.
Over the past four years, we have been blessed to see that happen. Multiple ministries and communities have used the space regularly for worship, prayer, Bible studies, training, meetings, gatherings, connection, and practical ministry.
Seeing how The Sanctuary has served and blessed so many has encouraged us to take this next step.
As we prepare to leave 159 Durham Street and move into the final pre-opening phase for 75 Devonport Road, we are grateful for all the Lord has done and excited for what is ahead.
More Room, Greater Impact
The new facility at 75 Devonport Road is taking shape, and we are encouraged by the interest already coming from ministries, churches, and groups looking to use the space once it opens.
It has been almost a year since we first began stepping toward this opportunity. Council consent came through in mid-February, and since then the project has moved through major building work, internal fit-out, services, compliance requirements, and preparation for the final stages.
We are now pushing hard toward opening in August, provided we receive the final Council sign-off / CCC required for public use.
This new space will allow for:
- multiple ministries and gatherings to run at the same time
- workspaces for Kingdom-minded businesses, ministries, and individuals
- environments for worship, prayer, teaching, discipleship, conferences, events, and wider Kingdom use

We are deeply grateful for the generosity and support that has helped bring the project this far.
To date, over $275,000 has already been raised and invested into The Sanctuary 2.0, enabling a significant amount of work to be completed.
As with many building projects, the longer timeline has added pressure. Consent timing, compliance requirements, building updates, holding costs, transition costs, and the final work needed to bring the building to a usable standard have all added to the overall project cost.
As we move into this final pre-opening phase, we are believing for around $100,000 to cover the essential final works, prepare the building for first-stage use, and open well.
